Die Bilder sind nach Originalzeichnungen und Photographien des Verfassers ausgef?hrt, zum Theil von ihm befreundeten bedeutenden K?nstlern, die ihm mit der liebensw?rdigsten, uneigenn?tzigsten Bereitwilligkeit entgegengekommen sind; die Bilder zu S. 35, 36, 50, 54, 101 nach Photographien, die zu 129, 138, 215, 218, 226 nach Camera-lucida-Aufnahmen, so dass sie fast die Genauigkeit von Photographien haben. Die Schiffe zu S. 7 und 50 sind Dumont d'Urville's Atlas entnommen, die V?gel S. 198 und die Fledermaus 216 nach ausgestopften Exemplaren gezeichnet.
